This is where things stand.

Flats

We have found a couple of nice ones that will probably go for way at the top end of our budget, despite being priced much lower. This is apparently the way things are done at the moment. Price at bargain-level and wait until the feeding frenzy happens. Which it will. Expect to pay forty percent over the asking price.

Solicitor

We have one of these. This was quite painless.

Mortgage

We have spoken to people about this. We have access to a good deposit, which apparently means very little nowadays (other than the fact you don’t have to borrow as much, obviously). It seems we can get a fairly good place without drowning under intractable debt. But the unpredictable nature of flat prices doesn’t help.

We are tearing ourselves to pieces with anguish and self-doubt.
